tpm 1 2 error message firmware does not support using

TPM 1.2 error message: " the firmware does not support using

With Vista beta 2, I'm trying to get Bitlocker encryption to work on a Dell Latitude D820 with TPM 1.2. I am able to activate and take ownership of the TPM, but I receive this error message on the Vista Bitlocker setup screen: "the firmware does not support using TPM during a boot "
Is there anyway for me to correct it so I can use Bitlocker? Does this mean Dell has to release a BIOS update (which won't happen until the final release of Vista). The TPM is listed as being by "BRCM version 2.10" using "specification 1.2" Thanks.

You will need a BIOS update...not sure if one exists yet.

Thanks. There's no BIOS update. Unfortunately, Dell has a policy against releasing anything to support beta software, even for their "Vista-ready" laptops. ("not quite Vista-ready but will be by 2007" didn't get past marketing).
I noticed that under TPM Management, TPM commands, commands 152 and 153 (& a number of others) show as "blocked" and help claims that they can be unblocked under "group management" (don't know where) However, I'm assuming they were correctly blocked by Vista because the BIOS (or the TPM firmware?) does not support what Vista needs it to do, even though it's a 1.2 tpm, and I shouldn't try to unblock.

I can cofirm you should be able to do this, from experience with doing this on machines..and it is likely a BIOS problem.
